The first two of a series of photo identification guides to soldierflies are available from the Soldierflies and Allies Recording Scheme. They are intended to highlight the features most easily seen on live specimens and on photos.
These guides have been compiled by Martin Harvey, and make extensive use of brilliant photos by Malcolm Storey, Steven Falk and others. Many thanks to the photographers, without whose generosity these guides could not have been produced.
The ultimate aim of the guides is to encourage more recording, so if you use them to identify soldierflies please add your records to iRecord!
