Description

The South West Lakes Trust has organised a special meeting as their contribution to Year of the Fly.

Monday 19th August 10.00 - 12.30

Old Sludge Beds at Countess Wear, Exeter.

Martin Drake and Rob Wolton who are Diptera specialists are teaming up with South West Lakes Trust to see what interesting flies we have on this important Site of Special Scientific Interest. We will be able to carefully capture, identify and discuss the importance of flies in nature and human society and what more we can do to help them as valuable species and pollinators.

Please park where suitable at the Exeter University boat club car park (grid reference: SX940894) or further up this one way road near the South West Water sewage treatment works entrance . We will meet at the sewage treatment works entrance at 10:00 and will aim to finish by 12:30.

Please wear suitable footwear and bring clothing for all weathers. All of the equipment and PPE will be provided on the day. This event is suitable for absolute beginners, enthusiasts, experts and families!
